This caller was witnessing the burglary of a home next door to his. Scary stuff... especially knowing there were officers in plain clothing on the scene...

what officers are you talking about? officers didnt show up the on scene until after the guy had already made the shots.

It isn't illegal to shoot someone who is stealing your property, and the fact it was his neighbors property makes no difference to me really, and the fact those guys died from getting shot doesn't mean he is guilty of murder.

i mean obviously the guy shouldnt of done what he did espically after being told by the police on the phone not too, but if he had just walked outside to begin with after dialing 911 and did the same thing i would think he was in the clear

but he might get fucked just from how he completely disregarded the warnings of the phone operator and went outside and cause to now be dead.

He's stupid, but not a murderer

Officers had just arrived on the scene, but were not on the side of the house the burglars entered and exited and where the shooting took place. The officers were approaching from several houses down, as I understand it from news reports. Regardless, the caller/shooter was unaware of the plan of action and had no way of knowing for sure that he wasn't shooting a plain clothed officer. Imagine for a second that an officer had entered the front and chased the pair of burlgars and followed them out the window. That person likely would have been shot too...

Also, the stolen property did not belong to him and as the dispatcher said, no property is worth killing someone over.. or worse, even.. losing his own life. Further, there wouldn't have been any self defense to it, had he remained inside as the dispatcher instructed him.

I'm fairly torn about what happened. Part of me says "good for him for watching out for his neighbors and taking action". On the other hand, I am dating a police officer and shudder at the thought of how this could have gone terribly, terribly wrong. I believe his intentions were good, but his actions were poorly executed.

For the record, a grand jury has cleared the caller/shooter of criminal charges, but althought it seems unlikely in this case, he still faces the possibility of the grand jury revisiting this case. According to news reports, it is very likely he will face civil action.

Also noteworthy: Both of the so called "victims" were shot in the back, according to the coroner's report.

Neither of them were black, as the caller described, but were of spanish descent.

They should have been shot. This country is too soft on criminals. They were caught in the act and punished. Good for that guy. Too bad the police can't do the same.

In texas that is true...
Not in most states.
In most states only in self defense when your in mortal danger may you use lethal force.

until he lets them go, then two days later they kill a child in a botched robbery down the street...

I honestly don't feel a single thread of remorse for the two guys. They were already illegally in the country, stealing stuff from someone's house.
I don't have a lot of love for illegals in the first place. But for the love of god, they came here illegally to steal, not get a job. I don't have any problem with immagrints, but illegal immagrints piss the fuck out of me. I will make note now that my mother is not a US citizen, but she is a LEGAL resident alien...

This man called 911, gave the cops a chance, but when the bad guys were getting away he chose not to let them. He patiently waited, he did not 'jump the gun'... good for him. Fuck them.

Why do you think they call it "The Criminal Justice System" Citizens do their part and report crimes; cops do their part and arrest them; the courts release them back into society and thus the circle continues. There is no justice for the victims.

well im pretty extreem when it comes to criminal punishment. i think juveniles should be cained when they comit crimes i think they should make criminals do hard labor. theives should lose a hand for first offense and a foot for their second. i dont belive in life in prison i think anyone we dont want on the streets should get a year to pray to god for their souls and then be shot. (everything else is a waste of money.

i should add most people think im kinda excesive.

some times old timers remind us how wussyfied we have become in the us.

Personnally Im glad they got shot, its a damn shame that everyone isnt put in this position...

If you see a guy breaking into your house are you gonna ask him if hes gonna hurt you first? are you gonna ask him what weapon he brought with him so you can get one of equal damage? .... ohh let me put my Gun up and get a knife so its a fair fight......

Shoot their ass, make damn sure you kill em so they dont sue you later!

Its amazing how many peoples opinions change on guns and the death penalty when the shit happens to you....

when its your kid that was raped by a child molester, or your grandmother was killed by gangmembers for $10 and her medication, or your wife was raped in your house because you couldnt fend off some punk with a gun....

All I can say is, they were illegal, he was a good man and a good neighboor, said he doesn't really know his neighboors that well. But I promise I'd do the same, I would want someone to do the same for me... What's the alternative... watch em' steal your neighboor shit, maybe they get caught, put in our prisons, and we pay for there time. Take 10 years to shippem out. Better believe I wouldn't stand by and watch some stupid shit like that go down. all i'm gonna say. People work to hard to get the things that they have in life.

the fact they were illegal immigrants doesnt really matter to me, the only thing that matters is they were stupid criminals.

Smart criminals would of broken into that house, got all the shit to steal, and have been out within 5 mins. They were be stupid greedy retarded fucking criminals, and thats why they deserved to be shot.

heres a tip for ANYBODY who wants to do B&E, KEEP IT LESS THAN 5 MINS AND YOU'RE GOOD. Stay longer than 5 mins, and you might get shot by the neighbor who's watching you and calling the cops.

As for the death penalty, I'm absolutely for it. I think a child rapist or murderer should be killed. They are of no use to society and never will be.

The only reason I don't vote for it is the incredible number of cases we've seen over the last decade where they got the wrong guy. You can't say "sorry" and release the guy when he's dead.

If we could figure out how to avoid convicting the wrong person, I'd be all for the death penalty.

I doubt agree with vigilante justice, shooting someone for stealing your neighbor's property, if that's ok, then what other reasons are legitimate for shooting someone?

Now don't get me wrong, I use to have (technially they are Grot's now) 3 handguns, the first one I specifically bought for protection, I feared for my life and I was at the shooting range more then once a week firing it to become familar with its feel and how the sight lined up, etc. I even bought very HOT, hallow point studded rounds for it. If it is question of my life, Grot's life, or now our kids, you better believe I have NO qualms killing someone. Just to saite the curiosity people might have on the guns I've bought. .22 long rifle Rueger (a fun, cheap to shoot, little pop gun), a 9 mm browning, I specifically chose this over a glock because glocks are nothing but plastic and I needed something with more weight to keep steady in my hands but 9 mm are are PIA to load compared to my other 2 guns and then my protection gun is a .357 Mag Rueger Revolver (the one that only holds 5 rounds in the chamber), its a nice fit for a woman's smaller hands.

I love how the dispatcher covers the phone and says " He's in the house, the guys got a shot gun, if we don't hurry up and get there, he's gonna go shoot their asses!" lmao
